## Beschreibung

Im äussersten Norden Bangladeschs, im Distrikt Nilphamari, ist Saidpur Airport (SPD/VGSD) der verkehrsreichste Flughafen der ganzen Nordregion. US-Bangla, Biman, Novoair und Air Astra verbinden ihn im Inlandverkehr mit Dhaka. Regierungspläne sehen einen Ausbau zum regionalen Drehkreuz mit internationalen Verbindungen vor, doch bislang findet keine reguläre Luftfracht statt. Exporte der nahen Uttara EPZ und der Textilbetriebe gehen per Lkw zum Frachtflughafen Dhaka (DAC). Für Spediteure ist SPD heute ein reiner Passagierflughafen mit Wachstumsambitionen.
