Hong Kong (HK) ist eine Sonderverwaltungszone Chinas am Perlflussdelta mit eigenem Zollgebiet und einer der wichtigsten Freihafen- und Umschlagplätze Asiens. Es gibt weder Einfuhr- noch Ausfuhrzoll und keine Mehrwertsteuer; Verbrauchssteuer fällt nur auf Spirituosen über 30 Prozent Alkohol, Tabak, Kohlenwasserstofföl und Methylalkohol an. Import- und Exportdeklarationen sind binnen 14 Tagen beim Customs and Excise Department einzureichen. Wichtigste Gateways sind der Hong Kong International Airport (HKG, 2024 weltgrösster Frachtflughafen mit rund 4,94 Mio Tonnen) und die Kwai Tsing Container Terminals; der River Trade Terminal in Tuen Mun bindet das Perlflussdelta an. Strassenseitig verbinden die Grenzübergänge nach Shenzhen (Lok Ma Chau, Shenzhen Bay) und die Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge das Territorium mit dem Festland. Gehandelt werden vor allem Elektronik und elektronische Bauteile, Maschinen, Schmuck und Uhren sowie Pharma; wichtigste Partner sind Festlandchina, die USA, Japan und Taiwan. Das FTA-Netz umfasst CEPA, EFTA (inkl. Schweiz) und ASEAN.
