Landseitig verbinden die E4 (Helsingborg–Stockholm–Haparanda), die E6 nach Oslo und die Öresundbrücke nach Dänemark das Land mit dem Kontinent; auf der Schiene sind Västra und Södra stambanan, der ScanMed-Korridor und die Malmbanan (Erz) zentral. Exportiert werden vor allem Fahrzeuge, Maschinen, Forst- und Stahlprodukte sowie Pharmazeutika; wichtigste Handelspartner sind Deutschland, Norwegen, die USA, Dänemark und Finnland. Landeswährung ist die Schwedische Krone (SEK).
