Wer als Unternehmen zum ersten Mal Waren in die EU einführt oder aus ihr ausführt, stellt rasch fest: Ohne EORI-Nummer wird keine Zollanmeldung akzeptiert. EORI steht für Economic Operators Registration and Identification und bezeichnet die EU-weit eindeutige Kennung, die jede nationale Zollbehörde an in ihrem Mitgliedstaat ansässige Wirtschaftsbeteiligte vergibt. Die Registrierung ist kostenlos und einmalig; die Nummer bleibt gültig, solange das Unternehmen aktiv gemeldet ist. Im Speditionsalltag erscheint sie als Pflichtfeld in jeder Import-, Export- und Transitanmeldung und stellt sicher, dass Sendungen eindeutig einer juristischen oder natürlichen Person zugeordnet werden können. Auch Unternehmen aus Drittländern, die regelmässig an EU-Zollverfahren teilnehmen, benötigen in bestimmten Fällen eine EORI-Nummer.
