Schon im 16. Jahrhundert nutzten europäische Fischer die geschützte Bucht von Bay Roberts (UN/LOCODE CABYR) an der Conception Bay Neufundlands zum Trocknen von Kabeljau — heute ist der Ort ein ganzjährig nutzbarer Fischerei- und Kleinfrachthafen. Die von Fergus Island abgeschirmte, weitläufige Bucht ist als Ankerplatz anerkannt und bietet Anlagen für Fischprodukte, Stückgut und Treibstoff sowie private Kaianlagen. Kommerzielle Bedeutung hat vor allem die Fischverarbeitung; regelmässige Container- oder Liniendienste gibt es nicht. Historisch exportierte die Stadt Salzkabeljau bis nach Europa, Brasilien und in die Karibik. Grössere Seefracht für die Region läuft über St. John's, rund 90 Strassenkilometer entfernt.
