Um 1900 gehörte Byng Inlet zu den grössten Sägewerksstandorten an der Georgian Bay; von dieser Blütezeit ist heute wenig geblieben. Die kleine Gemeinde Britt am Huronsee dient inzwischen vor allem Freizeit- und Sportbooten, Treibstoff ist vor Ort erhältlich. Eine kommerzielle Frachtrelevanz besteht praktisch nicht – kein Container- oder regulärer Stückgutumschlag. Für echte Grosse-Seen-Fracht nutzt man Parry Sound in der Nähe oder grössere Häfen wie Hamilton und Goderich.
