Bekanntheit erlangte Caleta Clarencia in Chiles Feuerland 1950, als von hier das erste chilenische Rohöl nach Uruguay verschifft wurde – einer von fünf Pionier-Ölcamps, die ENAP in der Region Magallanes errichtete. Heute ist der einstige Terminal- und Lagerstandort eine captive Öl- und Gasanlage ENAPs ohne kommerziellen Stück- oder Containerumschlag; das frühere Arbeitercamp existiert nicht mehr. Die Frachtrelevanz für Speditionen ist damit gering. Für kommerzielle Ladung in der Region sind Punta Arenas oder das Terminal Cabo Negro die praktischen Anlaufpunkte.
