Krabben, Hummer und Austern bestimmen den Takt in Caraquet, einem der wichtigsten Fischereihäfen New Brunswicks auf der Akadischen Halbinsel am Sankt-Lorenz-Golf. Jährlich werden hier zwischen 6'000 und 8'000 Tonnen Fisch im Wert von 30 bis 50 Mio. CAD angelandet; Heimatflotte, Fischereischule, Bootsbau sowie Verpackungsbetriebe für Fisch, Krabben und Austern prägen den Hafen. Die rund 260 m Liegefläche (165 m West- und 91 m Ostpier) empfangen über die rund 5,5 m tiefe Fahrrinne gelegentlich auch Schlepper, Schuten und kleinere Bulker. Container- oder internationaler Linienverkehr gehört nicht zum Profil. Für Massengut nutzen Verlader das nahe Belledune, für Container Saint John oder Halifax.
