Geprägt wird Kakogawa vom Kakogawa-Werk der Kobe Steel (Kobelco), das hier seit 1969 auf aufgeschüttetem Land an der Seto-Inlandsee rund 80 Prozent der Stahlproduktion des Konzerns erzeugt.
