Seit die Skye Bridge 1995 den Fährbetrieb nach Kyle of Lochalsh ablöste, ist Kyleakin am Ostzipfel der Insel Skye vom Verkehrsknoten zum ruhigen Hafenort geworden. Der sehr kleine Naturhafen mit nur rund 1,8 m tiefem Ladekai eignet sich allenfalls für Fischerei-, Freizeit- und Kleinboote; kommerzielle Container- oder Stückgutfracht wird hier nicht abgewickelt. Die Anbindung erfolgt über die A87 und die Skye Bridge ans Festland. Für Frachtsendungen in die Region sind das Festland via Skye Bridge und der Raum Inverness die geeigneten Wege.
