Von 1929 bis 2012 betrieb Bowater Mersey in Brooklyn an der Mündung des Mersey River ein Zeitungspapierwerk mit eigenem Hochseepier; seit der Schliessung gehört das Areal als Port Mersey Commercial Park der Provinz Nova Scotia. Das rund 88 Acre grosse Gelände verfügt über einen aktiven Kai von etwa 168 Metern, eigene Stromversorgung und industrielle Wasserkapazität – ausgelegt auf Projekt-, Schwer- und Breakbulk-Ladung statt auf Linien-Containerverkehr.
