Als westlicher Teil des Grand Port Maritime de Marseille bündelt Port-de-Bouc mit dem benachbarten Terminal Lavéra einen der grössten Flüssigfracht-Standorte Frankreichs. Bedient werden vor allem die Raffinerien von Shell, BP und Esso (Fos), deren Rohöl, Raffinerieprodukte, LPG und petrochemische Grundstoffe über dedizierte Pipelines und Tankläger laufen. Für Speditionen heisst das: relevant ist dieser Standort fast ausschliesslich für Tank- und Gastanker sowie projektbezogenes Breakbulk und Schiffsreparaturen – Containerlinienverkehr findet hier nicht statt. Die Anbindung ans Hinterland erfolgt über die Autobahn A55 und das südfranzösische Bahnnetz Richtung Rhône-Korridor. Wer Stückgut oder Container nach Südfrankreich disponiert, nutzt die nahen Terminals in Fos-sur-Mer statt Port-de-Bouc. Gefahrgut- und Zollabwicklung unterliegen den Regeln des Grossraums Marseille-Fos.
