Bekannter als Tor zu den Ionischen Inseln denn als Frachtstandort, wickelt Preveza dennoch einen realen, wenn auch kleinen Stückgut- und Schüttgutverkehr ab. Am Eingang zum Amvrakischen Golf importiert der Hafen vor allem Soja, Mais, Tierfutter, Düngemittel, Eisen, Holz und Öl für die Region Epirus. Vier Piers mit Tiefen bis rund 13 Metern bedienen jährlich nur etwa 200 Schiffe, dazu kommen ein Fischereischutz und eine Marina mit rund 300 Liegeplätzen. Eine regelmässige Container- oder Linienanbindung ist nicht bestätigt; die Ladung ist überwiegend konventionell und agrarisch geprägt. Für Fähr- und RoRo-Verkehre nach Italien ist das nahe Igoumenitsa (GR IGO) der massgebliche Hafen, für Containerfracht Patras (GR GPA).
