Die Salzindustrie prägt Puerto Morro Redondo auf der Pazifikinsel Isla Cedros vor Baja California: Hier betreibt Exportadora de Sal (ESSA, Mexiko-Staat und Mitsubishi) einen der weltgrössten Salz-Umschlagplätze. Das Salz wird in den Verdunstungsbecken von Guerrero Negro gewonnen, per Barge nach Cedros gebracht, zu Halden aufgeschüttet und von hier auf Bulk-Carrier verladen. Der offene Reedeplatz bietet mit rund 23 m Ankertiefe und 17 m am Ladepier genügend Wasser für grosse Schüttgutfrachter. Neben dem Salzexport lebt die Insel von der kommerziellen Fischerei auf Languste und Abalone. Container, Stückgut und eine eigene Zollpforte für den allgemeinen Aussenhandel sind hier nicht etabliert. Für containerisierte oder verzollte Sendungen ist Ensenada der zuständige Hafen am Festland.
