Bis Ende der 1960er-Jahre verschifften die Korkfabriken der Provinz Girona ihre Ware über Sant Feliu de Guíxols, das damals über eine Schmalspurbahn bis ans Kai verfügte. Heute ist davon wenig geblieben: Der Standort dient als Fischerei- und Sporthafen mit über 400 Liegeplätzen, kommerzieller Stückgut- oder Containerumschlag findet nicht statt. Für Speditionssendungen an die Costa Brava ist ES SFU damit ohne praktische Bedeutung; die Ladung läuft über Barcelona rund 100 km südlich, regionale Fischerei zusätzlich über das nahe Palamós.
