Die Steveston Harbour Authority betreibt seit 1990 Kanadas grössten kommerziellen Fischereihafen, am Südarm des Fraser River im Süden von Richmond. Auf rund 17,5 Hektar machen über 500 Fischereifahrzeuge fest; jährlich werden zwischen 22 und 45 Millionen Kilogramm Meeresfrüchte angelandet. Der Hafen ist auf Fischpackung, Netzreparatur, Bootsinstandsetzung und den Direktverkauf ab dem Fisherman's Wharf ausgerichtet, nicht auf Container- oder Stückgutverkehr. Die Fahrrinne wird nur durch periodische Baggerung auf Tiefe gehalten. Für kommerzielle Frachtsendungen, Containerlinien oder Zollabwicklung ist der nahe Hafen von Vancouver die massgebliche Adresse. Die Frachtrelevanz von Steveston bleibt damit auf den Fischereisektor begrenzt.
