Zur Blütezeit des Heringsfangs in den 1920er- und 1930er-Jahren war Whitehall auf der Orkney-Insel Stronsay der wichtigste Fischereihafen der Inselgruppe – mit 19 Curing-Stationen und drei Piers. Geblieben sind heute eine Ro-Ro-Fährverbindung von Orkney Ferries nach Kirkwall sowie ein Fischereihafen, in dem vor allem Reusenboote (Creel) für Hummer und Krebse liegen.
